Syartinilia Wijaya is a full professor at IPB University’s Department of Landscape Architecture. Holding a PhD from the University of Tokyo, she is a landscape ecologist who leverages spatial modeling and geospatial data as powerful tools to solve complex challenges in conservation and sustainable land management. Her work is centered on developing integrated, spatially explicit frameworks to tackle habitat degradation and build critical climate-resilience across natural landscapes. Her research is internationally recognized—particularly for her work on the endangered Javan Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi), where she uses multi-scale habitat modeling to inform integrated landscape management strategies. As an active member of the Asian Raptor Research Conservation Network, she advocates for the use of raptors as indicator species for ecosystem health, and she currently serves as the Executive Secretary of the IPB International Research Institute for Environment and Climate Change.
